Montes Classic Series Chardonnay '05 $10 at the corner **
Enjoyable; balanced, some body, no overt oak, a little acidity, even. Fine on its own, and good with food. So glad I've learned to like Chardonnay after all. You know there is an intellectual aspect to my conversion; after tasting unoaked that retained some of the profile I had chalked up to unnatural stewardship, I relaxed, cleared my mind and drank Chardonnay for what it is. It's wine. Some good, some bad, some great. Hang up your hang ups, man. Plus with M on the wrong side of Sauvignon Blanc, there wasn't much to choose from around here.
